About The Estate
Amongst the first tea estates to be planted by the famous Scottish pioneer, Dr. Archibald Campbell, Puttabong means The House of Green Leaves. This organic estate is amongst the biggest in Darjeeling, and has been manufacturing top quality teas since the last 170 years.

Appearance - Black-brown, well-twisted leaves interspersed with delicate gold tips
Aroma - Floral with distinct woody and nutty notes, amidst layers of honeysuckle and grape sweetness
Taste - Clean amber and mellow cup, with clear notes of honey laced with subtle tones of lychee and jackfruit around the edges, and a delightful nutty finish

Black Teas are fully oxidized / fermented teas with withered black leaves and a high caffeine content. Darjeeling and Assam are two of the most renowned Tea-producing regions in India, their teas revered for the delicate and bold flavor profiles, invigorating aromas, and strength. Black Teas are incredibly healthy and have abundant beneficial antioxidants that boost overall health.

What are the health benefits of Black Tea ?

Black Teas are a rich source of antioxidants called 'Polyphenols'. These help in reducing cell damage and help in boosting overall immunity. The 'flavonoids' present in Black tea boost heart health by reducing bad cholesterol (LDL), triglyceride levels etc, reduce high blood pressure. What is the best way to make Black Teas?

The best way to make a perfect cup of signature black tea is to get 200ml of freshly-filtered water to a boil (90-100 degrees celsius) and add 2 grams (0.07 oz) of your favorite black tea to it. Switch off the heat, cover it, and let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes depending on how strong you like your cup to be. Strain into a cup and sip while hot! The best time to have a cup of black tea is the morning or early evening. Since black tea has considerable caffeine (lesser than coffee) and hence should be avoided before bedtime. Is Black Tea rich in antioxidants?

What is the Shelf life on your products ?

All Vahdam Teas have a shelf-life of 3 years from the ‘Date of Picking/ Harvest’. The ‘Date of Expiry’ is mentioned on the bottom of all our boxes.
